Life: 3 Top habits for Better Nutrition
Since when did choosing what and how to eat become so complicated?
I’ve lost count of the numerous “this is the best diet”/here’s the latest detox/fastest way to lose weight adverts I’ve seen.
Let’s take it back to basics nutrition habits (ones that actually work). Sound good?
Eat slower
Ok so it’s not the flashiest of headlines but it is one of the best nutritional habits you could make.
Why?
Eating slower allows you recognise when you are “satisfied” rather than “full/stuffed”.
You’ll chew your food more which is great for digestion.
So why not make it your habit to sit at a table to eat and take your time over your meals. No more eating in the go!
Eat minimally processed foods
Want an easy way to improve your diet, health and waistline?
Simply ask yourself:
Do I recognise this food/ingredients?
Could I recreate this sauce/meal in my own kitchen?
It’s fine to use prepared items you find in the shops. They save us time and can be a great way to improve our diet. Just check the labels next time you buy.
Drink more water
Do you struggle to stay hydrated? The average adult requires about 6-8 glasses a day (but remember your needs may differ).
Why not try:
Starting the day with a glass of water (before any tea/coffee/breakfast)
Having a glass with every meal.
Top tip: next time you are about to reach for a snack because you feel hungry, try a a glass of water first. We often mistake hunger for thirst.
Hope you’ve enjoyed these simple habits for better nutrition.
